Complimenting Bethnal Green Nature Reserve's interdisciplinary Experimental School of Urban Ecologies, Wild Horses of Fire! film club presents an outdoor screening of a film connected to climate-crisis themes: Metin Erksan’s Dry Summer (Susuz Yaz, 1963) - a tense Turkish melodrama of sibling rivalry, forbidden desire, and water hoarding. A tobacco farmer builds a dam which prevents his neighbours from irrigating their crops, while lusting after his brother’s wife, with tragic consequences.

Restored in 2008 by Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project. View the trailer here.

The screening will be followed by a discussion on the themes it raises.
