Sports Organisations

How can my sports club get involved?

It’s easy to get involved. You can run activities within your community from 6th to 14th June 2026 and be part of something positive happening across the UK. You could:

Run a Great Big Green Week event for your staff, fans, partners or community

Host a Great Big Green Week activity with your community, schools or local partners, such as a litter pick, tree planting session or community workshop

Tell your stories on social media about what your club is doing to support a cleaner, greener world using the hashtag #GreatBigGreenWeek

Your activity during Great Big Green Week will celebrate the steps your club is already taking to support people, nature and your community, and encourage others to get involved too.

We have lots of resources to help you get started. Fill in this form to get access.

Want to make your mark during Great Big Green Week? Join us from 6 to 14 June 2026 and show your fans, members and communities that sport stands up for nature and climate.

You’re already making changes to reduce waste, encourage active travel and lower your environmental impact. Now, amplify that work during Great Big Green Week, a platform to celebrate what you are doing and inspire the supporters to take action too.

Run a kit swap. Host a planting day to encourage pollinators. Set a sustainability challenge for your members. Use your platforms to spread the word.

Whatever you choose, you will be joining two million people across thousands of businesses, community groups and organisations taking part in the UK's only mass moment for nature and climate.

Great Big Green Week welcomes grassroots clubs, national governing bodies and professional teams alike. Get involved and show what sport can do.

Ulster GAA

For Great Big Green Week 2026, Ulster GAA, who have just become signatories of the Sports for Nature Framework, will be taking meaningful steps to connect their communities with the natural world. At their headquarters in Armagh, the organisation will begin developing a biodiversity garden, embedding a lasting commitment to nature at the heart of Ulster GAA. Across the province, two of their clubs will be bringing local communities into the action: one hosting a bio blitz to help residents discover and record the wildlife on their doorstep, and another running a wildlife garden workshop to inspire members to create spaces where nature can thrive.
