St Luke's Nature Day

St Luke’s Nature Day

On Saturday, 13th June, St Luke’s Church offers an opportunity to explore nature in ways ranging from the beetles crawling on our plants to the questions of growing food in a rapidly changing climate.

The morning begins at 11 with learning ways to investigate nature on our doorstep. Nicola from St Nicholas Fields, a local nature charity, will be visiting to help us with surveying wildlife in our church grounds, as well as with nature crafts. There will also be a moth unveiling and count, which the Explorers will be helping set up on Friday the 12th. Finally, we will be looking for people to help us decorate our new hedgehog house!

From 12-1, join us for a bring-and-share lunch (with tea, coffee and snacks provided inc vegan and gluten free options).

From 1-3, watch a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing with us. This essential film brings together leading UK scientists and experts on topics including climate, food security, and energy transition, along with Jennifer Saunders, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

The film will be followed a short open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally.

The film has a recommended age of 16+. We have limited childcare available (max 15 places). We welcome enquiries about this: [email protected].

The morning is offered on a drop-in basis, but please book for the screening.
