Try Walking Tennis and Boccia – Great Big Green Week

Looking for a fun, gentle way to get active outdoors? Join Littleover Valley Tennis Club to try Walking Tennis this Great Big Green Week—an easy, inclusive version of tennis designed for all ages and abilities.

Whether you’re new to sport, returning after a break, or simply want to enjoy being outside, walking tennis is a great way to move more, meet people, and boost your wellbeing.

Why getting outside matters

Many of us spend up to 90% of our time indoors, missing out on the benefits of fresh air and nature.

Great Big Green Week is the perfect chance to change that.

Spending time outdoors—even through light activities like walking tennis—can have a real impact on mental health:

Reduces stress: Just 20–30 minutes in nature can lower stress hormone levels

Boosts mood: Around 80–85% of people say being in nature increases happiness

Eases anxiety: 74% report reduced stress and anxiety after time outdoors

Supports resilience: Nearly half of people say green spaces help them cope with stress

Improves energy & focus: Many people feel more energised (68%) and focused (65%) outside

Even short sessions outdoors—just 10–50 minutes—can improve mood and wellbeing.

Why try walking tennis?

Gentle and low-impact – play at your own pace

Social and welcoming – great for meeting others

Suitable for beginners and all fitness levels

A fun way to enjoy the outdoors and stay active
