Derbyshire Green Rewards is a free online platform that helps Derby City and Derbyshire Dales residents make more sustainable choices in ways that work for their own home, lifestyle and circumstances. Whether it’s reducing waste, saving energy, travelling more sustainably, or protecting nature, every positive action counts. Residents can sign up online and start logging their actions to earn Green Points, climb the leaderboard and win prizes.

It’s not about being perfect — it’s about making realistic choices that fit your everyday life. Green Rewards encourages people to think about what works for them, helping residents explore practical steps towards more sustainable living at their own pace.

The impact of those small actions can be huge. Residents in Arboretum recently showed just what’s possible by earning the most points in a local ward competition. Their collective efforts won improvements to green spaces in the ward, including new planters and screening at Cummings Street and Church Street, with new trees to follow. It’s a brilliant example of how everyday choices at home can add up to visible, lasting benefits for the wider community.

As Councillor Carmel Swan said, Arboretum residents “have done a fantastic job” — proving that when people work together and log their green habits, individual actions can become a major win for the local area.

There’s something in it for individuals too. Every month, top point-scorers can win vouchers, and residents can also take part in ward competitions and bonus activities. The platform also includes the Climate Classroom, with short learning modules designed to help people build their environmental knowledge while earning extra points.
