Engaging your local politicians

Why engage your local politicians?

Communities across the UK are already taking action for climate and nature. But individual and community action can only go so far. Real, lasting change needs political will behind it.

Your local politicians have the power to influence decisions that affect your local area and the wider country. When they hear directly from constituents about what matters to them, it makes a difference.

Great Big Green Week is the only mass moment for nature and climate in the UK. It shows clearly and visibly that public support for action is both wide and growing. Together for good, we can give our politicians the mandate they need to act.

Involve your politicians this Great Big Green Week

Great Big Green Week 2026 is one of the most powerful opportunities of the year to show your local politicians just how much people care about climate and nature.

In 2025, more than a million people took part in events across the UK. Great Big Green Week is a mainstream public movement, and politicians need to hear about it.

Whether you invite your MP to an event, speak to a local councillor or simply send a message about what you are doing and why it matters, every conversation counts. The more our decision makers hear from the people they represent, the more they will champion these issues.

Here, you will find support to help you come together for good with your community and local politicians from 6 to 14 June 2026, and make your voice heard.
