Residents of Northallerton are invited to come together for a fun, relaxed community family picnic at Applegarth Park on Saturday 7th June, as part of The Great Big Green Week—the UK’s biggest celebration of community action for nature and climate.

Taking place from 1pm to 4pm, this free, open event encourages families and neighbours to bring a blanket and their own picnic, slow down, and enjoy time outdoors together. Alongside picnicking, visitors can explore the park’s Incredible Edible Garden and the hidden Secret Garden, celebrating local green spaces at the heart of the community.

There will be a wide range of hands‑on, family‑friendly activities designed to help people of all ages connect with the natural world. Activities include pond dipping, bug hunts, arts and crafts, family games, and practical learning about growing your own food, composting, and caring for nature.

The event reflects the spirit of Great Big Green Week, which brings communities across the UK together to take positive, hopeful action for people, climate and nature.
