Free online talk. Beat the heat this summer with cool hints and tips to stay chill when the temperatures soar!
Heatwaves are expected to become more frequent and extreme, reaching over 40°C most years in much of South & East England. Most of our homes, even modern ones, are poorly designed for this, which may cause extremely uncomfortable or even dangerous conditions indoors, especially for the young and the elderly.
This talk will show what you can do to stay cooler in a heatwave:
- Improve the shading of your home with awnings, blinds, shutters, etc.
- Ventilate your home effectively when its cooler outdoors at night
- Keep yourself cooler, even in a hot room
- Insulation for heatwaves, switching off appliances, etc.
This event is made possible with the support of Cambridge City Council’s Sustainable City grant.
