Walk and talk around Thacka Beck Nature Reserve

Event description:

Join us for a gentle walk around the Nature Reserve and discover the history of the reserve and Thacka Beck, the work Eden Rivers Trust did to help reduce the risk of flooding and explore the nature on show. If there is time, we’ll pay a visit to the nearby Community Tree Nursery.

About Thacka Beck: The area is a brilliant example of nature-based solutions; its flood storage basin protects Penrith whilst creating a rich mosaic of ponds, mature hedges, and beautiful hay meadows. Keep an eye out for frogs, dragonflies, and water birds!

About Eden River Trust: A Cumbria-based conservation charity dedicated to safeguarding our local rivers, enhancing wildlife habitats, and protecting our waterways for the future.

Meet at: Meet at the Cowper Road entrance.

Ages: Everyone is welcome!

Booking Information: No need to book, just turn up

Accessibility: There is a gravel/earth path but the ground is a little stony and there are a couple of slopes. Wheelchair-friendly kissing gates give access from Thacka Lane, Cowper Road and Bowerbank Way.
