Alston Repair Mill (Repair Café without the Cream Teas)
- Date: June 06, 2026 - 10am
- Location: Alston High Mill, High Mill Factory, Alston, CA9 3HS
- Organiser: Alston Moor Community Workshop
Have they convinced you that it is Summer, and yet your Raincoat leaks and your Brolly is now inside out?
Maybe ‘No Mow May’ has now been extended because your Mower won’t start and your Strimmer’s had a strop?
Has that leg come loose on your Dining Room Chair again, but at least the table isn’t wobbling on its own . . .
Did your Ice Maker give up the ghost just when you needed it the most?
Are your Summer clothes coming apart at the seams now that you only have another 3 weeks before winter?
Have you dug out your Dad’s old camera only to find that you’re not sure how to use it or even if it works?
The solution to all of these and more could well be found at the Repair Mill at our home in the Community Workshop, at the High Mill (the metal door by the foot of the Hill House Bank steps to Jollybeard) on Saturday 6th June from 10 am to 3pm – you’ll find us signposted from the back of the Co-op Car Park or go past (the Award Winning!) Cobbles Café in Market Square and turn right. Learn how to save money by mending stuff and help to reduce waste in the process, all for a voluntary donation. We’ll look at electrical goods, bicycles, furniture, clothing, zips and textile repairs and even some shoe repairs, in fact just about anything that you can bring along - we can also have a go at garden and DIY tool, knife & scissor sharpening. While you're here, why not ask about joining the Alston Men's Shed, Busy Buddies or the Crochet group where we can just chat and maybe learn new skills, as well as enjoy making and mending stuff together.
Also, we now have an Industrial heavy duty Sewing machine and can repair most tears in Gazebos, Tents, and other heavy materials, however as these repairs take up time and space, probably not today. Please come and have a chat with us first.
