The Great Garden Fete on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 June is a free two-day celebration on the British Library St.Pancras Piazza to accompany the exhibition Unearthed: the Power of Gardening. Both days run from 11:00 to 17:00 with free drop-in talks, activities, live music, food, drink and much more. Friday includes a screening of the remarkable documentary BEE WILD and talks on sustainable growing by Social Media Influencer of the Year Jamie Walton; on The Philosophy of Houseplants by Sarah Gerrard-Jones, and on the creation of the Unearthed exhibition by its British Library curators. On Saturday, the Royal Horticultural Society present a special series of ‘Gardening in Action’ sessions in the Pigott Theatre, while some of the country’s most dynamic community gardeners talk about the spaces they created and maintain. The day rounds off with a performance on the Great Garden Fete bandstand by the incredible Hackney Colliery Band. Stalls include Great Dixter Nurseries and The Botanical Boys, with plants and terrariums for sale. You can also get to know community group Coco Collective and nature skills innovators Earthed and find out how Wayward rehome thousands of plants from Chelsea Flower Show every year, some of which will be on site. The Story Garden at the back of the British Library will also be open with more activities for all ages across the weekend. Food and drink both days from Hot Rocket, Original Greek Souvlaki, Graysons, Origin Coffee and Chapel Down. Most activities are free to attend, subject to capacity, but advance booking is recommended for some of the talks (https://events.bl.uk/events/the-great-garden-fete). Tickets are required for the Unearthed exhibition, open each day and can be booked in advance online (https://events.bl.uk/exhibitions/unearthed-the-power-of-gardening).
