Green Week
Henley’s Great Big Green Week
- Date: June 06, 2026 at 10:00am - June 14, 2026 at 11:00pm
- Location: Falaise Square, Henley-on-Thames , RG92AA
- Organiser: Greener Henley
The week brings together residents, businesses and community groups for a vibrant programme of climate and nature action.
This year’s theme, ‘Pledge for the Planet’, invites individuals and organisations to commit to a simple, practical action and then share it publicly during Great Big Green Week. The campaign covers eleven areas – from nature and energy to food, travel and community resilience – and is all about encouraging collective actions that are good for Henley and good for all of us.
The programme features a diverse range of activities designed to inform, inspire and engage people of all ages. The week begins on Saturday 6 June with the Big Green Festival in Market Place – a free, family-friendly event featuring stalls, workshops and interactive activities focused on how the community can collectively tackle climate change and enhance nature locally and beyond.
Additional events throughout the week include a Poetry Reading competition and a special ‘Green Screen’ of Sir David Attenborough’s documentary A Life on Our Planet followed by a panel discussion on Wednesday 10th June. Greener Henley is also organising a landmark event entitled ‘Henley Prepared: Community Resilience Briefing’ comprising a screening of the National Emergency Briefing film and action-focussed workshop. This invite-only event on Monday 8th June will bring together around 100 local leaders from business, education, health, faith, sport, culture and media, including MP Freddie van Mierlo, to explore how our community can build resilience in an increasingly unstable world.
